Best Restaurant in the World

In honor of my chef-fing brother, I bring you this:  for the second year in a row, a Danish restaurant has claimed the title of Best in the World.

The Copenhagen restaurant of chef Rene Redzepi was voted number one in the S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2011, a list compiled by more than 800 international restaurant industry experts for Britain’s Restaurant Magazine.

Seems like a pretty impressive achievement to win this in back-to-back years.  Even more impressive is that, in order to claim this title, the Danish Noma knocked off the Spanish ElBulli restaurant that had won the award four years in a row.

The Chefs’ top choice was an Italian restaurant, Osteria Francescana, and the top American restaurant in Chicago’s own Alinea.

You can see the full list at S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants website.
