Housekeeping

Before we begin, a little housekeeping and a few disclaimers.

While I try to figure out what I’m gonna do next in my professional journey, I’ve decided to do a little writing.  I’m sure I’ll look back at these early posts and think, “Uggghhh.  How could I write such crap?”  But, the sooner I start writing that crap, the sooner it’ll evolve into something worth reading.

I don’t know what this blog is gonna be about; I’m trying an organic approach.  There’s a pretty good chance there will be posts about US politics, the Dallas Cowboys, international affairs, books I’ve read, current affairs in New Mexico, the Texas Rangers, soccer, current affairs in Texas, and adorable things my kids do.

I realize there are two links under “New Mexico Politics” that both have the title “Capitol Report New Mexico”.  That’s not a mistake.  At least on my part.  There are two websites that use the same title (and the same logo) but that carry different material.  I’m interested in what they post but I’m not interested enough to try and figure out what’s going on with the two of them.

I am often irreverent.  I try not to be disrespectful.  My wife and I have a rule we both live by that has served us well.  If one of us says something that can be interpreted in more than one way, we assume the other meant it in the most positive way (even when we’re pretty sure that wasn’t the case).  This is a rule I will try to live by here as well and I’d appreciate it if you did as well.

I’m not sure I understand all of the rules of etiquette for blogging. If I screw up, it will be unintentionally and I’ll do all I can to make it right.  This is an instance where the above-referenced rule would come in pretty handy.
